The Self Obstructive Scale (SHS) is a tool used to assess the degree to which individuals tend to use self sabotage strategies when facing potential failures. Self sabotage refers to individuals setting obstacles in advance to explain possible failures in order to protect their self-esteem or avoid negative evaluations. These obstacles can be behavioral (such as procrastination, reduced effort) or psychological (such as attributed to external factors). Although self sabotage strategies can protect an individual's self-image in the short term, they may have a negative impact on academic achievement, career development, and personal growth in the long run.
